I just found a new book at the library about mindful eating. I tried out some of the concepts yesterday and I really think they might help. Everyone knows that food tastes best in just the first few bites, and the enjoyment sharply drops off from there. Obesity really comes from mindless eating that quickly ceases to be enjoyable after the initial moments. What if you became a lot more discerning and observant in your eating ... unleashing your "inner gourmet?" Something to consider.

Tired of being tired.
So that's why I chose this resolution this year. I'm not sure what to write here, but I know I need to write something. For some reason I think it will help to document this particular resolution and have a place to post inspirational pictures, videos, etc. I know I'll feel a lot better if I actually get off my ass and start moving and get in decent shape. It's been years. I used to work out all the time before I became pregnant with my first son. I was kind of forced to give it up, in fact, because it was actually a healthy addiction. I know I can get to that point again. So here I am. Hope I can keep this up. There are better ways of spending my time than staring at the boob tube.

*** 2019 UPDATE ***
I've probably lost about 100 pounds since I wrote this post, mostly through diet. I've decided to rename this blog "Jody's Self-Help Blog" and make it more general. I've still got about 50 pounds to lose to get to a healthy weight.
